Undergraduate Program
      Xiamen University is the first comprehensive university to offer degrees in international news in China in 1983 and it starts to offer degrees in Radio and TV Journalism in 1989. Located in a Special Economic Zone, our school is home to those who love to learn professional journalism, English news, literature, history and philosophy and have cultivated journalism professionals. Academic interactions are very active in the school. Media professionals and international scholars are invited very often to visit our school and offer lectures and internship opportunities.

Education Objectives 
     The primary goal of the department is to train the next generation of high-quality reporters for all the media agencies and publicity departments. The department provides undergraduates with the opportunity to study journalism in its broadest aspects: its history and literature, basic theories, regulations, and ethics; In addition, students can acquire professional skill training in language, basic skills in reporting and network communication. A range of interests can be explored with the help of University faculty and other resources, including further enhancement of skills they have gained through previous journalism courses, such as multimedia, magazine, radio, and—of course—writing.

     To successfully complete their studies, students must earn 146 credits, including: 34 credits for public obligatory courses, 16 credits for general education courses, 31 credits for specialized required courses, 46 credits for specialized elective courses and 19 credits for other courses.

     The department provides a comprehensive exploration of Marketing, Branding, Ad Design, Media Planning, Public Relations and other practical courses while ensuring that students receive a strong academic education.      As part of its professional emphasis, the department provides an opportunity for practical work in both the classroom and the field. Students will have the opportunity to earn experience in a variety of forms: print, online, broadcast, and television. Students work closely with professional staff to write, edit, report, and produce the newscast, and they also learn the basic skills of Program production, program planning, media management.
